Tricky Tray - Ken Allen
Tricky Tray - Ken Allen
Description provided by Martin's magic:
This tray was invented by Ken Allen c. 1954. Ken actually released two versions the standard size: 7″ x 12″ x 3/16″ and the Trick Tray Junior size: 5.5″ x 7.5″ x .5″. It is a very simple idea but works perfectly and looks very innocent for predictions, Bank Night, and all manner of switches. Interestingly enough it has the same name (Tricky Tray) as an effect described by Oswald Rae in his 1938 book The More You Watchwhich is also a switching tray but much more elaborate than Ken’s version. I would use Ken’s version over Oswald’s because you can pretty much do the same thing with a much simpler tray and no moving parts. Because Ken’s Tricky Tray is so thin and plain it really does seem free from trickery.
Effect: Tricky Tray is a utility switching device that can be used for:
- A mental prediction equal to the best prediction chest.
- Bank Night – No switch of envelopes.
- Change a S5.00 bill into a S10.00.
- Prediction, by Bob Fillman.
Tray is black Plexiglas, and may be used as a tray during the show. May be shown on both sides.
