Ollapodrida: A Journal of Magical Melange was a homemade magic periodical created and published by Altron Sharpe.
Active between May 1983 and November 2005, the publication's name stems from the Spanish culinary term olla podrida, which traditionally means a slow-cooked "hodgepodge" or miscellaneous stew. True to its name, the journal was a rich mix of magic history, vintage photos from Sharpe's personal collection, magic show reviews, and trick tutorials.
Key elements of the periodical included:
"Back Chat from Kellar's Den": A regular editorial column penned by Alton Sharpe on the last page of most issues.
Irregular Schedule: While it began as a bi-monthly publication, its release schedule eventually became sporadic.
The Final Issue: The journal concluded its run with its 24th issue, which was edited and published for Thanksgiving 2005 by Alton's wife, Lorraine, following his passing.
